The core material of Obligato strings consists of a new synthetic material that Pirastro co – developed with their supplier and which Pirastro obtains the exclusive rights to.  Pirastro is convinced that this new core material is superior to other synthetic materials and steel because it offers an unmatched wide range of sounds, is absolutely insensitive to variations in temperature and humidity and it offers musicians a fantastic dynamic range! 

Obligato strings have a core made from modern synthetic multi filament fiber giving Obligato strings a warm and full sound yet they still maintain a brilliant, rich overtone spectrum and focused tone.  Obligato strings have excellent play ability and response throughout the entire dynamic range with great tone volume and excellent tuning stability.  Obligato strings are insensitive to variation in temperature and humidity.

In combination with Pirastro‘s newest production techniques, Pirastro is now able to create a new family of strings which offer a complex tone with rich overtones, that bring out the finest nuances in pianissimo and great depth in fortissimo, have outstanding tuning stability and can be used in any environment no matter the degree of humidity or changes in temperature!  Welcome to the Obligato family!
